Florida Beekeeper's Misfortune: Million-Bees Escape After Highway Collision
1 year ago
8
A Florida beekeeper has suffered a significant loss after a collision on a highway resulted in over a million bees escaping from the hives he was transporting. The incident, which took place on U.S. Highway 301 near the I-10 ramp in Baldwin, occurred when a tractor-trailer made an unannounced U-turn and collided with the beekeeper's truck. Despite efforts to recapture the bees, many flew away or were killed, leading to financial damages of up to $80,000. The Florida Highway Patrol has issued a caution due to the mass of bees still in the area.
