"The battalion has a specific task - to hold the "road of life" to the city of Bakhmut, but in addition to this road, the battalion receives various tasks - both in Bakhmut itself, in the outskirts, and on the "road of life," says the commander of the assault company, Oleksandr "Hook" Kovalenko.
A few days before filming, the Aidar battalion, together with other units of the 5th Separate Assault Brigade, successfully stormed and took Russian positions in the Bakhmut direction. Today, the military are already training and preparing for new tasks.
hromadske journalists spent two days with the Aidar soldiers in late March. At the battalion's positions and location, we met a PE teacher, miner, and child psychologist in addition to the regular military. All of them are from the Donetsk region and are now defending their homeland.
