Yes. God Loves You.

Nate Lindley hiked with his brother Seth to the cross located at the top of a mountain near Pepperdine University in Southern California. The marine layer was thick, but the dense fog set the scene for a God moment. When the brothers reached the ridge line, they could see the sun rising over the mountaintops to the East. The marine layer was now below them. But, the phenomenon occurred when the brothers looked to the West. They could see their shadows, casted from the sun behind them, onto the clouds below them. And, encapsulating their shadows were circular rainbows! While the brilliance of the light was not fully captured by their phone cameras, they snapped a photo to share this moment and share God’s Word.

This experience especially rocked Nate, who was struggling with convictions of sinfulness (and still is, because our story of repentance and our need of Christ is ongoing). That weekend, following this experience, was loaded with spiritual significance for Nate. Readings, discussions, and sermons included scripture messages like Galatians 6:10 message to “…Do good to ALL…” and 1 John 3: 4-6 “No one who lives in Him keeps sinning.” and John 8:11 “…Go now and leave your life of sin.” Nate knew that God placed him in this exact moment to see this image of God’s love. Any other time, location, or weather condition would not have produced this same experience. The rainbow is the sign of God’s covenant to us. It is a symbol of his mighty power and love, which abundantly surpasses all our transgressions, failures, or imperfections. By blessing Nate and Seth with this image of God’s unfailing love, God prepared Nate for these messages of redemption.

When God looks to you, me, and all of us, we are surrounded with this rainbow. He sees us in this radiating light, surrounded in the beauty of His covenant. He sees us beyond our sin… Yes. God Loves You.
