Will a Fireworks Fountain not make a mess indoors?

The fountain works, looks nice, but not made for indoors as it makes a lot of smoke and sets off fire alarms and the place will smell for a day. So not good for the elegant wedding. We bought new cold sparklular machines to use instead.
