Setting up square to the target
Let's dive into one of the most common misconceptions when it comes to setup . For those who are a bit more technically inclined, we often think about setting up everything square to our target line. We want our feet, hips, shoulders, and everything else to be in perfect alignment.
To achieve this, we typically set up with our shoulders level, thinking that this will create a perfect square alignment. However, this can actually cause us to line up a little bit open, leading to weaker shots and a tendency to fade the ball.
The reason for this is that when we set up with our shoulders level, it opens them up due to the position of our hands on the club. As we move our right hand down the club, our shoulders naturally open up, leading to an open alignment.
