Double Feeds with Aperture Defense

Double feeds and how to clear them:
Basically, I think there’s two good and fast methods to clear a double feed, either retain the current mag and reinsert it or just let everything drop and reload with a new mag. I also will say that it’s probably slightly better to drop the slide before reinserting the mag again. Reason being, while technically slower, there’s always the chance of putting the mag in, letting the slide go forward and thus causing another double feed. So, even though you’re adding the step of dropping the slide, inserting a mag, and then working the action again… you’re mitigating the risk of causing yet another malfunction which could save you time in competition or your life in a defensive situation. Just food for thought and it’d be cool to see people training more malfunction drills. They’re low round count and can even be done dry like in this video. Maybe not as glamorous as other stuff but I’m learning it’s probably just as important to train malfunctions as it is reloads and transitions.
