Welcome to Valley Of The Kings, the new instrumental prog rock/metal album from Scot Stoddard being released on June 1, 2023. This is Track 4, the title track, Valley Of The Kings.

What this track represents is a cooldown interlude after the first three songs. I wanted to put this little interlude in this spot on the album, 20 minutes in, to set up the next section of the album (5. Bastet, 6. Tutankhamun, 7. Akhenaten, 8. Nefertiti, 9. Sekhmet), which is a very intense set of tracks, before the lighter Track 10. Horus, and the epic ending track Anubis, the longest track on the album. I highly recommend you listen to the entire album as a whole, because it IS thematic and does tell a story!

What this track depicts sonically is sounds of Ancient Egypt, including: An actual sample from the Nile River; wood flute; large drums, the Egyptian harp, cymbals, shakers and desert winds. Also included are samples of melodic themes from other album tracks being played on the above instruments, plus a couple mixed up/cut up sections of actual album tracks.

The track portrays a journey leaving the banks of the Nile and heading towards the Giza Plateau and the Great Pyramid. As you approach the pyramid, the sounds of the Nile fade and the desert winds prevail. The melodic strains of the wood flute and harp inspire you to carry on forward in your exploration. I encourage the same.
