Generosity to the unchosen son. (Isaiah 21:13-16)

All to often we can focus on the fact that we are "chosen" And we are. This is a beautiful gift, a kind and merciful thing. Being chosen means that we get to live like it. Like for a moment with me: Egypt enslaves Israel. GOD rescues them. GOD reminds them to be merciful to the orphan, the widow, the immigrant, because Israel was once a slave. I mean the whole reason that they got there in the first place is because Joseph was sold as a slave because his other brothers didn't want him. When once a slave, how can we heap chains? Or to use the beautiful message of the unforgiving debtor: "You evil servant! I forgave you much, and you would forgive them nothing?! Take 'em! Throw them and their family into chains until the debt is paid!" If we aren't merciful to the "unchosen" son, do we really know in our hearts what it is to be "chosen" in the first place.
