The complexity of COVID and public policy... Do mandates work? How do we quantify the costs?
Host Daniel Sanderson welcomes Tyrone Keynes, a System Dynamics Practitioner, and Independent Researcher, on Episode 45.
Using systems thinking to understand the world around us, his model entitled "A Feedback Perspective: Susceptible-Infected-Recovered, Social Stress Model" was presented at the 2022 System Dynamics Conference, exploring the adherence to non-pharmaceutical interventions and the subsequent resistance to government policies. Exogenous lockdown orders in the model are simulated in real-time to illustrate the endogenous public behavior and the social stress caused by mandates.
