The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that two Ukrainian drones attempted to target President Vladimir Putin's residence around 3 a.m. on May 3 in an alleged assassination attempt. Russian state media RIA Novosti stated that the drones were shot down using electronic warfare systems. Videos of the alleged attack circulated on social media, but their authenticity could not be independently verified. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Putin was not at the residence during the attack and accused Ukraine of attempting to assassinate him. However, Ukrainian officials denied any involvement, stating that they were focused on liberating their own territories. The alleged drone attack occurred ahead of Russia's May 9 celebration commemorating the Soviet Union's victory against Nazi Germany. Many events have been scaled down or canceled due to security concerns, including the "Immortal Regiment" march. Some believe that the recent fires and acts of sabotage in Russia are the work of the Ukrainian military or local partisan groups, but Ukraine has not claimed responsibility.
