Public Intel Report - Michael Douglas Carlin
Michael Douglas Carlin is an award-winning director, best known for his documentary work. His film, "Minnesota! The Modern Day Selma", won 18 Film Festival Awards, including three Best Director awards.
For the past five years, Carlin has been investigating the murders of Tupac Shakur and The Notorious B.I.G. He completed the documentary, "Larger Than Life: The Suge Knight Story" in 2016, and continues to investigate the Rampart Scandal and its ties to Death Row Records. Since 2004, Carlin has been the editor of Century City News, and he uses this platform to continue his investigations.
Carlin collaborated on two books with former LAPD Lead Detective Russell Poole. The first book, "Tupac: 187", was about the murders of Tupac and Biggie, while the second book, "Chaos Merchants", continued their investigation. Russell Poole died mysteriously in a meeting with the LA County Sheriffs about reopening the cases as he presented new evidence that he felt would bring the killers to justice.
Carlin collaborated on "Tupac Assassination: Battle For Compton" and directed "Larger Than Life: The Suge Knight Story". His film, "Luvicide", was scheduled to be released in 2019.
Carlin's film career began at an early age. He was born in Los Angeles in 1962 and grew up in the entertainment business. His grandfather was a teamster whose last movie was "Jaws", and his father was a lighting director with notable credits such as "King Kong" and "The Fury". Carlin turned his efforts to publishing where he published "The Entertainment Funding Sourcebook", "The Studio White Pages", and "Media and Entertainment Institutional Investors". For ten years, Carlin was the publisher and editor of The Century City News, a publication that he created.
Carlin is also the author of "A Prescription For Peace", "Peaceful Protests", and "Rise a Knight". His film credits include "Never on Tuesday" (1988), "Now You Know" (2002), "Knife to a Gunfight" (2013), "Fraternity Demon" (1992), "Prison Planet" (1992), and "American Federale" (2013).
