Drew Baye High Intensity Training podcast

Repetition speed...
-can definitely move too fast
-can also move too slowly
-not the same for everyone
-have different levels motorability
-below some speed, some people
-will have difficulty moving
weight in continuously, smoothly

Early 90s, Terry Carter, working for
Dr Doug McGuff's Ultimate Exercise...
-we were tracking performance by
recording reps, not time
-we lost resolution in measurement
of exercise performance
Terry began using a stopwatch to
record performance
-called this 'time under load'
-has become associated with
super slow, high intensity approach

'time under load' is not a training
method, it is a measurement
-every time you perform exercise,
your muscles are under load
-exercise=strengthening activity:
safely & efficiently load & inroad
muscles, in accordance to muscle
& joint function to improve
muscle strength & size in all of
general factors of trainable
functionality & ability

Exercise: contract muscle against
meaningful resistance
-this is 'under load'
-those who heave & drop weights:
-time their start to their stop:
-that is their time under load
[they're not training to failure]
