A MONTH LIVING & SPEARING IN THE ABROLHOS WITH MY KIDS - SINGLE DAD SINGLE HANDED SAILING - Part 2

After taking the initial leap and leaving Fremantle Sailing Club, we were greeted with heavy swell downwind after slowly building all day. The wind vane became my best friend and slowly I adjusted to night/multiple day passages. My needs became non existent, as the needs of the boat and the girls take 1st priority as usual. A pit stop in Jurien Bay, a week in Geraldton, and a rough 40mile sail, we had covered 240miles by sea and arrived in The Abrolhos!!
The first night was spent in the Pelsaert Group and as night fell, the stars came out, and I realized how incredibly lucky I was to be standing right where I was, to be a part of something bigger than myself. I had risked it all by getting the boat and we had pulled it off. With nothing but an 8mm chain anchoring us to the ocean floor so far out to sea, it felt like we were in outer space, and our tiny floating home that I had worked so hard on, was bobbing around in the abyss, keeping us safe from the harsh environment around us.
And the most precious of all, my girls sound asleep inside, completely unaware of how they would look back on this time, and I am sure how it will come to shape them.
