Jaspreet Boparai returns at the usual time slot of 8pm Sunday with repeat guest Gill Booth.

In this webinar, Gill & Jaspreet will focus on council spending and LGFA - the Local Government Financing Authority. Despite the downturn in economy, councils up and down NZ are spending big - museums, libraries, convention centres, community halls are being planned. This means billions of dollars of expenditure and higher rates for already struggling communities.

74 out of 78 Councils in NZ have borrowed from LGFA and 65 of these have entered a "collective agreement" , under which they've extended their rates revenue as guarantee for any default by themselves or any other councils signed up to the "collective agreement". Fancy your rates fulfilling obligations of another region?

Jaspreet Boporai is a wife, mum of two kids (6, 4) and a dairy farmer. She and her husband manage 1500 cows over two farms in Western Southland for a large equity partnership. She and her husband moved to NZ in 2009, swapping 80 hour weeks in corporate banking for longer weeks in farming! (Her husband has done his MBA and Jaspreet was a mortgage underwriter in India).

Jaspreet's family has been serving in the Indian army for many generations and nearly 30 years ago, her dad served in the Indian army contingent under the aegis of the United Nations in Africa. Thus, began her interest in all things UN related!
