Biden, Muslims, and the Barbary Pirate Wars- Christian Heritage Series

Joe Biden recently stated "Muslim culture has been woven throughout American culture from the very start," but I he was not referring to the most infamous encounters between Muslim pirates and Americans, the Barbary Wars. The funny thing about history is that you can try to rewrite it but in this case, the very anthem for the Marines harkens back to this tumultuous relationship. "From the halls of Montezuma, To the shores of Tripoli," refers to The First Barbary War, 1801-1805, America's first war after the Revolution, and the Second Barbary War in 181. Muslim Barbary pirates attacked and captured American ships in the Mediterranean and imprisoned American sailors and America went to war to stop them.
