The IRS is slated to get billions of dollars in new funding, but what will our money buy us? Better customer service? Maybe. Their customer service is pretty bad now so perhaps the only way it can go is up. The justification for the massive increase in funding is to close the tax gap and try to collect some of the trillion dollars a year that is owed but not collected.
