Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin is expected to sign a policy on Friday that would require the military to provide a mental health evaluation to any service member who requests one, in order to comply with The Brandon Act that was signed into law last year. The legislation is named in honor of U.S. sailor Brandon Caserta, who said in a suicide letter from 2018 that he was taking his own life due to constant bullying and hazing.
