Speaking with reporters on Parliament Hill, NDP women and gender equality critic Leah Gazan discusses her opposition day motion to declare the loss of Indigenous women, girls and two-spirit people (MMIWG2S) a nationwide emergency. She is also calling for other measure including the development of a national "Red Dress Alert" for missing Indigenous women and girls. The news conference comes ahead of a take-note debate in the House of Commons on Red Dress Day, the upcoming National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls and Two-Spirit People that is observed on May 5.
