Pentagon to deploy 1,500 troops to southern border ahead of expected immigration surge

Air Force Brigadier General and Pentagon Spokesman Pat Ryder confirmed the deployment of 1,500 additional active-duty troops to the southern border next week in anticipation of a migrant surge at the border. Brig. Gen. Ryder says the military personnel will fill “critical capability gaps” such as ground-based detection, data entry, and warehouse support for the following 90 days.
