Man-i-Fest, A Celebration of the Male

[Transitional Times Poem Collection] -
This poem was written in appreciation of the many good men I know and have known and also those yet to be met by me! The title is a play on having a ‘Festival of Men’ celebration and crossing over with the idea of men ‘manifesting’ their own best. I hope it conveys a little love and also something that can encourage and inspire all men, especially the younger guys. It felt necessary, as I recognise the on-going ‘social assault’ on the ‘male psyche’; predominantly in the last 30 years, but elevating more recently … something which us ladies have endured for quite a while!! It needs to be seen to be counteracted. Guys, we love you and appreciate you. Just love and appreciate yourselves also.

This poem was written on 31st December 2022 and as it is in my view a ‘topical’ issue, it has been included in my 'Transitional Times’ poem collection. This poem collection normally contains 'a variety of Motivational and Commentary poems exploring issues of the time'. [r30]

Poem wording -

Man-i-fest, A Celebration of the Male.

Do you know you’re kind and gleaming bright –
When many about you don’t have that light?
Do you know, how much you mean -
To so many people, seen and unseen?
Do you know, that in God’s great plan -
He is glad, that you, are such a man?

Do not let life or society you ‘emasculate’ –
to writhe or jerk, just to ejaculate!
Take the time, to find your way and a decent mate!!
Be great. Follow your innate state.
Be your strong self; proud, sure and brave;
Balanced, and righteous, and fair, no knave:

Have you ever heard of ‘tantric sex’ ?
A practice to ‘leverage and control energy’
Holding vital ‘essence’ longer – make you stronger.
Spirit, mind, intellect and body building,
As well as, ‘an internal cleansing’.
Good too in intimate loving relations! More elations!!

‘Toxic masculinity’ notions?! They need to be put to rest;
A bit like ‘feminism’s’ pushing away – At us, ‘women’s sacredness’:
Ugh, I desist.
Heterosexuality, it’s normal and naturally profound.
Don’t let others’ ideas get you down, or turn you around!
Be sure to go on, and stay sound. We need you – you’re already profound!

Go, be ‘your own man’.
In our God take your heed.
No actions motivated, by just money or greed;
No ego feed; no wastrel’s seed:
Do you know the real, testosterone test?
Deliberate, Envision, Create, Celebrate and
Go. Go, Man-i-fest, be your own best!
