Foundations, what is faith? “Now, faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen.” This is the opening statement made by the writer of the letter to the Hebrew people from the bible. When we use the word faith in our current English form, would you say it is substantive? These Greek words used here by the writer do not seem to fit the current understanding of the word’s faith and substance. Why does language change with culture?
