Ronald Regan was the 40th American president, an actor turned politician, and a former governor of California. He was known for his tough position on terrorism, support of Israel, rebuilding the military, economic reforms that corrected Carter’s failures, handling of the Soviet Union and his stemming the growth of communism in the western hemisphere. However, his greatest achievement was in bluffing the Soviets into spending themselves in political and economic bankruptcy, collapsing their economy, their government, which resulted in the former Warsaw Pact nations also falling apart, thereby becoming free and independent nations for the first time in their histories.
