Choupette, the cherished cat of fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld, was notably absent from the Met Gala event that paid homage to her late owner. Nonetheless, Doja Cat and Jared Leto ensured that Choupette remained at the forefront of attendees' minds by embodying the blue cream Birman in their Met Gala ensembles, which combined camp, couture, and cat-like features.

Doja Cat sported a silver Oscar de la Renta gown with cat ears, feline facial prosthetics, and claw-like nails. During her interview with La La Anthony on Vogue's red carpet live stream, she even added a few "meows" to her sentences.

Jared Leto arrived a few minutes later, initially unrecognizable in a head-to-toe cat costume that prompted Nick Jonas to comment on the Vogue live stream that he "came as a furry." Leto's outfit was inspired by the unofficial mascot of the night, Choupette, and included white fuzzy paws and a massive cat head with Choupette's distinctive blue eyes. Leto later removed the costume head after giving anonymous interviews in broken French and swapped the literal catsuit for a monochromatic look with a studded cape.
