Please turn up the volume to appreciate these two lions roaring it away!! The lion is the joy and pride of South Africa. Some males exceeding over 250 kg or 550 lb in weight. Lions tend to roar in a very characteristic manner and they most often roar at night. The sound can be heard from a distance of 8 kilometres or 5 miles and is used to advertise the animal's presence. Lions have the loudest roar of any big cat. A lion's roar can reach 114 decibels at a distance of about 1 meter. This noise is comparable to a Vuvuzela or a not-too-far jet engine and is also louder than a jack hammer. This video was taken at the Emerald Animal Park in Vanderbijlpark, South Africa.
