William Branham's Doctrine of Lying
William Branham’s Lying Doctrine
We now have hundreds of examples of William Branham saying things that were not true in his sermons. Examples ranging from things he said about the Bible or other Christians that were not true, to things he said God spoke to him that did not happen as he claimed to things he said about himself and his past. A vast majority of the things Branham said about himself that were not true appear to be designed specifically to lift him up into authority as the central figure of his cult of personality — and it worked.
Interestingly, this also appears to have plagued his mind, especially during the latter part of his life. Branham introduced a doctrine, disagreeing with the Bible’s statements about saying things that were not true. Just days before the month in which he died, for example, Branham said that Lying … wasn’t … a sin, and that people who said things that were not true were simply unbelievers. Since we can confirm that he had knowledge about the truth for some of the lies that he told, this would suggest that William Branham was admitting to his cult of personality that he, himself, did not believe his own religion.

Quotes:
Lying is not a sin; that isn’t sin, that’s the results of unbelief. Unbelief! You do it because you don’t believe.

Lying is not a sin. Committing adultery is not a sin.” I couldn’t get much farther than that, till a little old Methodist mother, sanctified, you know, raised up, she said, “Then, Reverend Branham, what do you call sin?” I said, “That’s not sin. ‘Unbelief’ is sin

Now, we all know that sin is, “unbelief.” “He that believeth not is condemned already.” Now, sin is the attribute of unbelief. Smoking cigarettes is not a sin. Stealing is not a sin. Lying is not a sin.
