If you do not answer a federal lawsuit, you can be "defaulted." This means, you lose your chance to raise objections on the merits of the lawsuit, and worse, you admit all well-pled allegations set forth in the complaint. However, there is a difference between getting a default entered (ex, by the clerk) and getting a default judgment (ex. from the judge). This may require a PROOVE-UP Hearing!
