The Suspicious Death of Deborah Palfrey

Deborah Jeane Palfrey, a.k.a. the 'DC Madam', ran a high-end escort service in Washington D.C. from 1993-2006. When she tried to retire in 2006, her assets were seized by the government and she was prosecuted on federal charges, including racketeering. Palfrey attempted to out some of her clients in an effort to get them to testify on her behalf, but was ultimately convicted in mid April 2008. On May 1, 2008, she was found hanged in a shed near her mother's Florida home. Despite saying on live radio multiple times that she would not take her life, police ruled her death a suicide after finding handwritten suicide notes.
