Saint Peregrine Laziosi, often referred to as Saint Peregrine, is a revered figure in the Catholic Church, known as the patron saint of cancer patients. Here's a brief biography of his life:

Saint Peregrine was born in Forlì, Italy, in 1260, into a wealthy family. He lived during a time of political unrest and strife in Italy. Peregrine initially showed little interest in spiritual matters, instead leading a life of privilege and indulgence.

However, his life took a profound turn when he was around 30 years old. He experienced a spiritual conversion after encountering Saint Philip Benizi, a member of the Servite Order. Inspired by Philip's example and teachings, Peregrine repented of his former lifestyle and embraced a life of prayer, penance, and service to God.

Peregrine eventually joined the Servite Order, a religious community dedicated to serving God through prayer and good works. He became known for his deep devotion to Christ and his compassionate care for the sick and needy.

One of the most well-known stories about Saint Peregrine centers around a miraculous healing he received. Peregrine developed cancer in his leg, and when the disease progressed to a critical stage, doctors advised amputation. On the eve of the surgery, Peregrine spent the night in prayer before a crucifix. According to tradition, during his fervent prayers, he received a vision of Jesus descending from the cross and touching his afflicted leg, miraculously curing him of cancer. The next morning, to the astonishment of all, Peregrine's leg was completely healed.

After this miraculous healing, Peregrine dedicated himself even more fervently to serving God and ministering to others. He spent the remainder of his life traveling throughout Italy, preaching the Gospel, and performing acts of charity.

Saint Peregrine died on May 1, 1345, in Forlì, Italy. He was canonized as a saint by the Catholic Church in 1726 by Pope Benedict XIII. Today, Saint Peregrine is venerated as a powerful intercessor for those suffering from cancer and other serious illnesses, with many believers invoking his name for healing and strength in times of need. His feast day is celebrated on May 1st, the anniversary of his death.
