He sent the best Messenger (The tenant farmers Matthew 21:33-45, Mark 12:1-12)
Have you ever been in a situation where someone came to you to deliver a message and you just didn’t take them seriously? Maybe the class clown said that school was canceled tomorrow or the coworker who is always playing pranks says that the boss wants to see you. On the other hand, there are some people who when you receive a message from them you know they are dead serious, and you better take it seriously. When the principle says school is canceled you know it canceled and when the foreman says the boss wants you see you, then you know it is legit. The person delivering the message can absolutely determine how we receive it. In our parable, it says that the tenant farmers did not respect any of the messengers that was sent to them, not even the son of the vineyard owner. They rejected them all and now the vineyard owner had to deal with their rebellion harshly because they rejected every messenger he sent. When the Son of God stepped down to earth to reveal the plan of God the father to this world, everyone should have taken notice, and everyone today should do the same.
The very person who spoke the universe into existence stepped off His Heavenly throne to relate with His creation and to provide hope of escaping our sins. This is not the class clown or jokester form the office, this is God Himself. God did send men and women to warn the world and God still sends men and women to do the same but all these messengers pale in comparison to the fact God chose to come Himself in the form of a human. All we can do is tell everybody what Jesus did for them but there was a moment in time when Jesus spoke face to face with those around Him. In addition to this, God the Holy Spirit penned the most beautiful, personalized love letter to His creation. We call it the Bible. God uses His creation to be His messengers, but God also directly interacts with His creation and for this fact we should all be in awe. Why would the creator of everything want anything to do with weak miserable me? The answer is, He values and desires a relationship with all His creation, so much so that He did not leave it up to others to deliver such an important message. God did and still does it Himself.
