Arikomban is a 30-year-old wild elephant in the Idukki district, known for storming houses and ration shops in search of rice. It was named so because of its love for rice. While 'Ari' means rice, 'Komban' means an elephant with tusks.

Arikomban was taken to Periyar on a lorry, accompanied by several other government vehicles. The traffic on the route was regulated. The elephant was tranquillized by Saturday evening (29 April 2023). Arikomban, was reportedly shot five times by a team led by senior veterinary officer Arun Zachariah of the forest department in the attempt to tranquillize it.
