Whether you like it or not, Teachers are the last line of defense to protect your kids if someone tried to hurt them. Why would you not want them in the best position to do that?

Teachers who are willing to undergo the necessary training to carry a gun on campus should not be stopped from doing so. It's important to protect our children and turning the discussion into a political issue about gun control is not helpful.

I appreciate that Texas is taking steps to fortify our schools and that teachers can be an important line of defense if someone tries to hurt our kids. I understand some concerns about guns being accessible to students, but we can put safe guards in classrooms where only the teacher has access.

Instead of debating whether or not teachers should be armed, we should focus on the extent of training and requirements needed.

We need to be proactive in protecting our children and fortifying schools. Even if we ban guns, there are still too many out there for psychos to obtain illegally, and we need to have measures in place to keep our kids safe.

We shouldn't be talking about background checks and banning specific guns, but rather doing what we know works to protect our children.
