Tom Crean the Ice Man of Ireland

Tom Crean was a seaman and explorer from Kerry who is often said to be an unsung hero of Ireland. Coming from a modest background on Ireland's West Coast, Crean would go on to take part in three major expeditions to the Antarctic during a time known as the Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration. He did this along side exploration heavyweights such as Ernest Shackleton and Robert Falcon Scott.
