This video investigates the feasibility of using a sniper rifle to shoot down a modern fighter jet. The analysis considers factors such as the sniper rifle's effective range, bullet trajectory, the speed and altitude of the fighter jet, and the probability of hitting a critical component. Results suggest that, while theoretically possible, the probability of successfully shooting down a fighter jet using a sniper rifle is exceedingly low due to the numerous challenges involved. Shooting down a fighter jet with a sniper rifle presents significant challenges due to the high speeds and altitudes at which these aircraft typically operate. This analysis aims to determine the practicality of such an endeavor by examining key factors that contribute to the overall probability of success. For this analysis, we will consider a high-powered sniper rifle, such as the Barrett M82, which fires .50 caliber BMG rounds. This rifle has an effective range of up to 1,800 meters and a muzzle velocity of approximately 853 m/s. Modern fighter jets, such as the F-22 Raptor and F-35 Lightning II, have top speeds around Mach 2.0 (2,470 km/h) and service ceilings up to 20,000 meters. These aircraft are also equipped with advanced electronic countermeasures and stealth capabilities, making them difficult to detect and target.

Fair use is the right to use a copyrighted work under certain conditions without permission of the copyright owner. The doctrine helps prevent a rigid application of copyright law that would stifle the very creativity the law is designed to foster. It allows one to use and build upon prior works in a manner that does not unfairly deprive prior copyright owners of the right to control and benefit from their works. Together with other features of copyright law like the idea/expression dichotomy discussed above, fair use reconciles the copyright statute with the First Amendment.
