Christ's affirmation here was one that was not as direct as the Jewish leaders would've liked, however, it was painfully clear what they understood. Christ was the master teacher but also the master tactician, knowing exactly what to say so that there was no way to confuse His meaning, but also not being forward enough to call undue condemnation from the wicked leaders.
