2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
3 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups whole milk
Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease two 9-inch round cake pans with butter or cooking spray, and line the bottoms with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
In a separate large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together with an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.
Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove from the pans and place on wire racks to cool completely.
Once cooled, you can frost the cake with your favorite frosting and decorate as desired.
