The Amistad starts the Voyage for Freedom

Another cool ship heading down the Mystic River, this is the Amistad.
She left the Mystic Seaport on the start of the Voyage for Freedom. Check out their website, www.discoveringamistad.org for the schedule of ports she will travel to this summer.

I have been aboard the Amistad, and it is well worth the trip to visit.
This is their mission statement, straight from the webside:

"Discovering Amistad teaches the lessons of the 1839 Amistad Uprising to advance racial and social justice today. Our schooner, The Amistad, is Connecticut’s flagship and serves as a floating classroom to supplement our proprietary in-class and on-line curriculum."

If you miss any of the ports of call, you can see the Amistad back at the Mystic Seaport in October and through the fall and winter.
