Indonesia has the Most EXPLOSIVE Location in the WORLD!! Lake Toba!!

Today we are flying to Lake Toba, Indonesia, in 4K!! Lake Toba is located in the northern part of the island of Sumatra!! It's not just a stunning place to vacation though, it has a very interesting, dark, and explosive past!!

Around 74,000 years ago, Lake Toba was a supervolcano that had the largest known explosive eruption on earth!! It is believed that it led to a volcanic winter, which caused a reduction in global temperatures!! The ash and sulfuric acid reflected the suns radiation that caused deforestation, cooler temperatures, and mass fatalities among wildlife and humans!!

When the dust finally settled, Sumatra was left with the largest lake in Indonesia!! It is also known to be the biggest volcanic lake on earth, and one of the deepest!!

The magma chamber underneath the Lake Toba supervolcano is more than four times larger than the volume of Lake Superior (the largest freshwater lake in the world) and even bigger than the magma chamber underneath Yellowstone!!

Very interesting history of this location, indeed, and it definitely makes for some breathtaking scenery!! We sure hope there won't be anymore eruptions!!
