I had the great honour of interviewing Sam Childers, better known as the Machine Gun Preacher, before a family bonfire outreach event at our property.

I first met Sam in 2018 when I invited him to speak at the state high school where I was teaching. Although there was resistance by some staff to Sam speaking, God had His way and Sam spent a couple of powerful hours inspiring the students and giving them hope and vision for the future.

Sam has a powerful story of redemption and self-sacrifice, leaving a violent life of crime to rescue children in Uganda and South Sudan.

Sam has served the people of Africa now for more than 25 years and his story has been portrayed in the 2011 action drama movie, Machine Gun Preacher, starring Gerard Butler.
