12 Chinese military aircraft and four naval boats were monitored by Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense during the early hours of Wednesday, April 26, and the early hours of Thursday, April 27.

On Thursday at nine in the morning, the Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense reported that 12 military aircraft of the People's Liberation Army Air Force and four boats of the People's Liberation Army Navy had been detected around Taiwan. Five of the identified aircraft crossed the median line or entered Taiwan's air defense identification zone, or Adiz, in the southwest.

Suhkoi Su-30 fighter jet, Shaanxi Y-8 reconnaissance tactical reconnaissance plane, Shaanxi Y-8 anti-submarine warfare plane, Kamov Ka-28 ASW helicopter, and Guizhou WZ-7 Soaring Dragon Recce unmanned aerial vehicle were among the aircraft tracked in the Adiz. The fighter plane SU-30 passed above the median line's northeastern segment.

What China is undertaking is referred to as a "gray zone tactic" by the Center for Strategic and International Studies. It is referred to be "a measure or series of measures beyond steady-state deterrence and assurance that seeks to achieve one's security goals without resorting to direct and overwhelming force."
