Wild Turkey and the Fixins’
Eatin’ Good In The Ozarks!

Sunday dinner was fresh fried wild Turkey breast and the fixins’. Folks, it was so good. We hadn’t had fresh wild Turkey for awhile. Our favorite way to fix it is to fry the breast and boil the rest for turkey and noodles. We have our son to thank for this special treat. We had fried Turkey including turkey nuggets, mashed potatoes, gravy, fried green tomatoes, green beans and macaroni and cheese. We also had home canned pickled beets from a friend. The fried green tomatoes were from our garden that we had frozen. We added extra cheese, butter and milk to box macaroni and cheese to make it yummy. The turkey was coated in flour seasoned with salt and pepper then deep fried. The gravy was made by preparing a roux with drippings and flour, cooking it a few minutes then whisking in milk until desired amount and cooking until it starts to thicken. A little salt and pepper to taste is added also. I forgot to make biscuits until everything else was done so it was light bread this time. It was a little crowded in my tiny kitchen with myself, my daughter and granddaughter all trying to cook and film in a hurry after church because we were so excited and hungry for the fresh turkey. 💜 Vicki
