Sen. Schumer unoptimistic about government default after House passes debt limit bill

Despite the U.S. House passing a bill Wednesday raising the debt ceiling, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) expressed dissatisfaction with the proposed legislation. “The only real solution to avoiding a catastrophic default is the same solution that both parties have adopted in the past: come together for a clean plan to avoid default, with no ransom notes, no floors, no brinksmanship,” said Sen. Schumer.
