Top news right now: Donald Trump’s lead over Ron DeSantis in the 2024 GOP primary race has grown to a historic high, according to a recent poll by Morning Consult. The survey found that Trump leads DeSantis with an astonishing 58 percent to 21 percent among potential Republican primary voters. This is the widest gap between the two candidates since polling began in December. DeSantis is the second choice of 47 percent of Trump supporters, while Trump is the second choice of 42 percent of DeSantis supporters. Trump’s favorability rating with Republican primary voters is at an impressive 81 percent, while DeSantis sits at 73 percent. Could this mean the end of the road for the rising star DeSantis?
