SYNOPSIS…

PART 1
What do brain function and a happy relationship have to do with each other? Well, a lot actually. This week, on “Me and My Song”, Jessica Leia discusses the inspiration behind this month’s song “Why Didn’t I Then?”, which includes making the connection between shitty behavior in a mate and the very real possibility that they may simply have a brain problem. As Jessica says in her monologue, that is “…no excuse for shitty behavior, but a lot of the time it IS the reason for that shitty behavior.”

So, maybe a relationship is doomed to failure no matter how much you try to make it work. Maybe some people will never realize how much their broken brains and the poisons in their body and mind effect who they are and how they behave. Maybe they’ll never realize how much better they could be and feel in themselves and in their relationships if they just cleaned those poisons out.

But regardless of whether they do or don’t realize any or all of those things, Jessica Leia points out in her monologue how important it has become for her - when caught in the maelstrom of emotional madness - to keep in mind the wise words of the prayer from St. Francis: “Seek to console, rather than to be consoled… Seek to understand rather than to be understood… Seek to love rather than to be loved…” The trick, Jessica says, is to be able to do ALL of that… WITHOUT being codependent as f*ck. Then hopefully at the end of the day, you won’t be lying in bed regretting things and asking: “Why Didn’t I Then?”
