The Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing Wednesday titled, ‘The Assault on Reproductive Rights in a Post-Dobbs America.’ Witnesses included medical and law professionals who discussed reproductive health and abortion access in the U.S.
In a 2022 landmark decision, the Supreme Court overruled Roe v. Wade, allowing for states across the U.S. to begin severely restricting access to abortion. More recently, U.S. District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk, a Trump-appointed judge in Texas, suspended the FDA’s approval of the abortion pill that has been used since 2000 and by more than 5 million women in the U.S., per the AP. The Supreme Court last week allowed access to the abortion medication to remain as the case moves through lower courts.
