Bill allowing VA to research cannabis for veterans fails in Senate

The Senate defeated a bill Wednesday that would have directed the Department of Veteran Affairs to research marijuana as a treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder and chronic pain. The cannabis legislation was passed by the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee with bipartisan support but failed to gain the 60 votes needed to pass in the chambers.
