C.S. Lewis argued that Jesus is the fulfillment of the monomyth. What was written on our hearts, what was hoped for throughout all of humanity, that there would be a hero that could defeat death, Christ comes and fulfills. And Romans 6 says that we get to share in that death and resurrection.
