Inside the Arcade At Disney's Port Orleans - French Quarter

Much like Q told Jean-Luc Picard in All Good Things, all good things must come to an end. Our impromptu adults-only Disney Port Orleans - French Quarter trip is over, but one thing I haven't had a chance to do is check out the arcade! Sure, it's not a value resort, moderate resort, or even really a kid-themed resort, but they've got to have an arcade, right? They do, so we went to the South Quarter Games Arcade to check out what they have.

I tried to check out the arcade a couple of days before this, and the one thing was we never got back to the resort before 10:00 PM, and we always left before 7:00 AM, so getting into the arcade was a challenge. Inside, however, they had some amazing games, some classics, and one I swear I will own someday.

Just inside the door was a NASCAR game I have played with my friends many times. Normally it was when we were going to RC races and we'd go to Sega City or Boomers or something like that out in California. This machine was set up for a two-player co-op and is so much fun. Next to it were two other racing games, but neither of them were as good for me as the NASCAR game was.

Next up was one of my favorite games, the Star Wars Trilogy cabinet. This has parts from all 3 Star Wars games, and I have always loved, loved, loved it. If we could get an Arcade 1Up variant of this, I'd be ecstatic!

It seems like all of the resorts have some variation of the giant Pac-Man, Space Invaders, or Galaga, and Disney's Port Orleans French Quarter had the Pac-Man version. It features an about 8 ft tall screen, beautiful pixel art graphics, in a great soundtrack.

I didn't notice it when I first walked in but there's a side room off the back right corner that has even more games. They had pinball machines for Tron and Guardians of the Galaxy, both were beautiful machines. I especially appreciated the Tron one, even though it was themed after Tron: Legacy, which is not as beloved as the original.

I thought it was interesting that they had two Namco 20th Anniversary cabinets here, with Ms. Pac-Man and Galaga. Interesting choice to double up on. But next to these, oh man, next to these is one of my favorite arcade cabinets of all time. I first saw this when we stayed at Disney's Art of Animation in 2021, and again at Pop Century when we stayed there in 2022. This is the Mario Bros, Donkey Kong, and Donkey Kong Jr cabinet. I didn't even know this was a thing until I first saw it at Art of Animation. It has three of Nintendo's most classic arcade titles all in one cabinet, and it looks and plays beautifully.

Have you ever stayed on property at a Disney resort? Have you ever been to Walt Disney World or Disneyland in California? If so, what did you think of the arcades? Let me know in the comments.
