Datianwan Stadium in Chongqing's Yuzhong District is the first Class A stadium after the founding of the People's Republic of China, the project was started in 1951 and completed in 1956. The stadium covers an area of about 120,000 square meters, with a standard soccer field and a 400-meter plastic track, and the stands can accommodate 45,000 spectators.

Datianwan Stadium was the main venue for holding sports and cultural events in Chongqing in the last century. It has been the home ground of Chongqing soccer clubs and many Hong Kong pop stars have held concerts here in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Since 2005, as a mass sports ground, Datianwan Stadium no longer undertakes major competitions, in 2009, Chongqing Municipal Government listed it as a municipal emergency shelter and a municipal cultural relic protection building.

In December 2019, the 'Datianwan Stadium Protection and Utilization Project' was launched, mainly to reinforce and protect the building for restoration, extend its service, and protect the heritage building.

After the renovation, Datianwan Stadium contains a standard athletic field with a capacity of 23,200 spectators. A new underground parking lot with 780 parking spaces has been added. At the same time, an outdoor ecological sports park was added, which contains 5 basketball courts, 2 tennis courts, 1 volleyball court, 8 table tennis courts, 8 ground parking spaces, and a swimming pool.

Visitors can make reservations in advance via the WeChat of Datianwan Fitness Center to enter the field and courts.
