The falls are situated in the Iguazu River and consist of 275
individual waterfalls

The name "Iguazu" means
"big water" in the
Guarani language,

and the falls certainly live up to this name.

The most famous waterfall in the park is the Devil's Throat,
or
Garganta del Diablo in Spanish,

which is a U-shaped cascade that is 82 meters (269 feet)

high and 150 meters (492 feet) wide.

The Devil's Throat is located on the Argentine side of the falls,

but visitors can also see it from the Brazilian side.

The falls are situated within the Iguazu National Park,
which was established in 1934 and declared a UNESCO World Heritage
site in 1984.

The park covers an area of over 67,000 hectares
(165,560 acres)
and is home to a diverse range of wildlife
