Dog loyalty shown we're going to talk about one of my favorite topics: dog loyalty.

Jessica is sitting on the couch, reading a book. Max is lying on the floor next to her, his head resting on her foot.

Suddenly, the doorbell rings. Max jumps up and barks, his hackles raised. Jessica gets up to answer the door, but Max stays by her side, growling softly.

JESSICA
It's okay, Max. It's just the pizza guy.

Max relaxes slightly but stays close to Jessica as she opens the door.

CUT TO:

INT. JESSICA'S BEDROOM - NIGHT

Jessica is fast asleep, but Max is awake, lying on the floor next to her bed. Suddenly, he hears a noise outside. He jumps up, runs to the window, and barks furiously.

Jessica wakes up, startled.

JESSICA
What's wrong, Max?

Max continues to bark, but then he hears a familiar voice. He stops barking and goes to the door. Jessica follows him, and together they open the door to find Jessica's best friend, KELLY.

JESSICA (CONT'D)
Kelly! What are you doing here?

KELLY
I couldn't sleep, and I needed to talk to someone.

Jessica invites Kelly inside, and Max wags his tail happily.

CUT TO:

INT. JESSICA'S LIVING ROOM - DAY

Jessica is sitting on the couch, crying. Max is lying on the floor next to her, his head on her lap.

JESSICA
I can't believe he's gone.

Max whines softly, as if he understands her pain.

CUT TO:

INT. VETERINARIAN'S OFFICE - DAY

Max is lying on the examination table, looking up at Jessica with trusting eyes. The veterinarian administers a shot, and Max whimpers slightly.

JESSICA
It's okay, Max. I'm here.

Max closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. A few moments later, he passes away.

CUT TO:

INT. JESSICA'S HOUSE - DAY

Jessica is sitting on the floor, surrounded by Max's toys and blankets. She is crying, but she is not alone. Kelly is sitting next to her, holding her hand. And Max's presence is still felt in the room, in the form of his favorite toy, a tennis ball, which rolls across the floor, seemingly of its own accord.

FADE OUT.

A young woman, KATIE, sits in front of a camera, speaking directly to her audience.

KATIE
Hey, everyone! Today, we're going to talk about one of my favorite topics: dog loyalty.

She holds up a photo of her dog, a border collie named LUCY.

KATIE (CONT'D)
This is Lucy, and she's the most loyal dog I've ever met.

CUT TO:

INT. KATIE'S LIVING ROOM - DAY

Katie is sitting on the couch, watching TV. Lucy is lying at her feet, asleep. Suddenly, the doorbell rings. Lucy jumps up, barking loudly.

KATIE
It's okay, Lucy. It's just the mailman.

Lucy continues to bark, but she doesn't leave Katie's side. As soon as Katie opens the door, Lucy stops barking and wags her tail, happy to see the familiar face.

CUT TO:

INT. DOG PARK - DAY

Katie and Lucy are at the dog park. Lucy is happily playing with some other dogs, but she keeps checking in with Katie every few minutes.

KATIE
Lucy's always been a social butterfly, but she never wanders too far from me. She's always checking in, making sure I'm still there.Dog Loyalty Shown

EXT. SUBURBAN HOUSE - DAY

A golden retriever, MAX, stands on the porch, staring out at the street. His tail wags as his owner, JESSICA, comes out of the house with a leash.

JESSICA
Come on, Max, time for a walk.

Max eagerly follows her, tail still wagging.

CUT TO:

EXT. PARK - DAY

Max happily sniffs around while Jessica watches him. Suddenly, a stranger approaches them.

STRANGER
Hi, can I pet your dog?

Jessica nods, and the stranger reaches out to pet Max. Max leans into the stranger's touch and wags his tail.

STRANGER (CONT'D)
What a good boy you are.

Max continues to wag his tail, but he doesn't take his eyes off of Jessica.

CUT TO:

INT. JESSICA'S HOUSE - NIGHT
